Day 8

Thank you to the weather gods for a clear moments to film! We ran all around Mount Vernon Community School getting some great action shots. Singing on the caboose, hanging from the jungle gym, posing with fruits and vegetables… We also had a great time finishing up our artwork and dancing with Jazz the DreamDog!

Day 7

Can’t even begin to describe how excited the kids were to sing with the Mayor and Superintendent. Yes, Mayor Bill Euille and Superintendent Mort Sherman boogied with the kids and sang today! It was AWESOME!!! We also worked on our art project and starting filming for the video.

Day 6

Wow! Everything is coming together so fast. Both group spent most of today rehearsing their songs, hearing their music for the first time. Here is a little teaser from “Rainbow Chew.”

The afternoon group has a great, much longer song. Here is the teaser from “B HealthE.”

Busy Weekend, Busier Week

This weekend Rainey spent 20+ hours in the studio laying down the tracks for “Rainbow Chew” for the morning class and “B HealthE” for the afternoon group. We are really getting excited now!

Monday we will rehearse our songs and get them down perfect. Tuesday we will record the music with special guests ACPS Superintendent, Mort Sherman and Alexandria Mayor, Bill Euille. Wednesday will record all the footage for our video. Thursday is practice for our live presentation. Then Friday it is time for the big show!

Day Five

MILK DAY for the younger grades, as we acted out milk products. Yogurt, cheese and lots of ice cream and milkshakes. We also talked about foods that cover more that one category. We decided pizza was the big winner. Question for the day: how many categories are covered with pizza?

For the older group included finishing up their poems and blending them all together, creating, imagining, doing art, making up dances — list goes on and on, followed up by a b-ball challenge (boys v. girls). Can you say, “Re-match” 2-1 . Everyone had such an incredible week!
